Windows are vital to your home’s beauty and comfort; they give you a wonderful view of outside, protect the inside of your home from the elements and they let in sunlight to brighten up your home. Because they are so key to a home, they receive a lot of action. It’s important to keep your windows clean so that they keep functioning as they should.
Window glass can get dirty pretty fast, particularly with little hands or pets in the home, but luckily glass cleaning isn’t that hard. Many McComb Window & Door windows have features that make it easier to clean the exterior of your windows from inside your home, too. Looking for an easy, new window cleaning process? Here’s what McComb Window & Door suggests:
- Start by brushing off your window sill with a small broom or brush. The dirt and dust that collects on the sill and ledges will get stuck there for a long time otherwise, and brushing will also prevent smearing on the glass later on. You should not use the same cleaning duster that you will eventually use to clean the glass!
- Run your vacuum’s dusting brush attachment on the side of your window screen that faces in. You can also use this vacuum piece to pick up any leftover dirt and dust on your sills.
- Use a premixed vinegar-based cleaning solution, or an ammonia-free glass cleaner like Windex® or Sparkle® to clean your window’s glass. You can create your own vinegar-based solution by mixing one-part white vinegar to 10 parts water. Generously apply the cleaner to a clean, lint-free cloth or paper towel and wipe down your glass from multiple different directions for the best clean.
- Give your windows time to air dry and then rinse your glass with clean water if you see streaks.
Here are some more tips, too! We suggest that you clean your windows on a cloudy day because the sun will dry the cleaning solution too quickly and leave streaks on your glass. Also, our McComb Window & Door professionals prefer microfiber cloths since they are the least likely to leave tiny particles behind.
Take care of your gorgeous view, protection barrier and light source by keeping your windows clean throughout the year.
